Auditions for The Cake!

Lubbock Community Theatre is proud to announce auditions for The Cake by Bekah Brunsetter and directed by Zachery Kocurek-Gentry. Auditions will be on Tuesday, August 31st, and Thursday, September 2nd at 7 pm at Lubbock Community Theatre (3101 35th St.). Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Performance dates are October 15th-17th & October 22nd-24th. From Concord Publishing, The Cake tells the story of Della--"Della makes cakes, not judgment calls – those she leaves to her husband, Tim. But when the girl she helped raise comes back home to North Carolina to get married, and the fiancé is a fiancée, Della’s life gets turned upside down. She can’t really make a cake for such a wedding, can she? For the first time in her life, Della has to think for herself." Roles are available for 3 women, 2 men DELLA – 40-60, pleasant, round, with a mass of big, curly hair. TIM – 40 - 60 her husband, a good ol’ boy. JEN – early 30s, with a wedding binder, who has dreamt of her wedding day her whole life. MACY – early 30s, her reluctant fiancé, African American.
