The Lubbock Community Theatre is the oldest, continuous, live community theatre in the Lubbock area. The roots of the LCT date back to the early 1940's and continue to bring audiences in the Lubbock Community together in an effort to entertain, enrich, and enlighten. LCT presents an opportunity for community members to step out of their everyday roles and to assume new roles as playwrights, actors, directors, costume designers, set designers, and audiences.

  • 6-7  main stage productions produced per year with 9 individual performances
  • Over 4000 patrons attend LCT productions per year
  • Over 5000 season ticket brochures are mailed for each season
  • LCT has produced 3 world and West Texas premieres of plays by local Lubbock playwrights
  • Over 1,500 Lubbock area children saw LCT's "Theatre for Children" program.
  • LCT's productions have been seen at the "Fairie Tale Tea Party" which benefits the South Plains Children's Shelter
  • LCT's "children's theatre program" is active in allowing area students to expand their imaginations and creativity.  In the summer of 2005, LCT added a summer program and now grades K-12 are involved with Children's Theatre, including a children's musical theatre program.  Over 50 students are served each semester by this program
  • LCT produces plays for the summer Shakespeare in the Park production sponsored by the City of Lubbock Department of Parks and Recreation
  • The season of productions at LCT combine both well-known productions along with new and innovative works
  • Have acquired an alternative theatre space within the past year which is used for all Children's Theatre programs and smaller theatre productions
  • As a resident of the newly renovated Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts,  LCT works closely with this organization and brings many patrons into the Arts Center who might not otherwise have the opportunity see this facility
  • Since 2003,  LCT has teamed with benefit organizations to raise money for them by collecting money or items during a specific production which we feel applies directly to that organization.
